When the world feels heavy, pause. Step outside on your porch, your balcony, or a quiet patch of earth. Give yourself just five minutes. Sit. Watch the gentle movement around you…. clouds drifting, branches swaying, even the hum of passing cars. Simply notice. Simply breathe.

If you have another five minutes, lean closer to the ground. Gather what nature offers freely: a leaf, a twig, a smooth stone, a fallen petal. Rearrange them. Create a pattern. Stack, scatter, or shape them into something entirely your own. In this small act, you are not only playing—you are inhaling the healing gifts of the trees, their phytoncides flowing quietly into your body with each breath, strengthening your own immune system..

And if you can offer yourself ten more minutes (set an alarm for later if you must : ) allow yourself to shift into a space of creation. Pick up a crayon and press a leaf to paper, revealing its hidden veins. Or take a dollar’s worth of paint and let a single brushstroke transform a simple leaf into living art. It doesn’t need to be perfect. It doesn’t need to be serious. In fact, the secret is play.

Art, like nature, is medicine for us. When we create with the earth, we connect with the wellspring inside us…. the source of ideas, inspiration, and insight. In those moments, we are given new eyes to see with, new ears to hear with, and a softer way to understand life.

So pause. Step outside. Let nature and creativity restore you 🙂 …. quietly, deeply, completely.
